PDA: Depp’s lawyer asked about rumor that she is dating a star

Their chemistry in the courtroom is such that social media is abuzz with the idea that there might be more to Johnny Depp and Camille Vasquez’s relationship than depositions and subpoenas.

The rumor mill has been fueled by the movie star and his lawyer stepping up in public displays of affection between cross-examinations, exchanging warm hugs, affectionate looks and touching that certainly exceeds the lawyer-client norm.

TikTok videos of the pair’s most touching displays of intimacy to romantic music have gone viral.

It’s easy to see why Depp is so smitten with the formidable young lawyer who many believe turned his fortune in the £40million libel case against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Miss Vasquez’s success in dismantling Heard’s testimony and contradicting her defense team earned her online plaudits such as ‘genius marksman’, while a fan celebrated her ability to deal with the accuser of his client like “a human ping-pong ball”.

Even the fact that she showed up for his cross-examination of Heard all in white is appropriate given that, for Depp fans, she’s the white knight who stood up for a client whose case frankly seemed a little flimsy.

Television footage of his pointed and quick questions to Heard, his forensic dismantling of aspects of his case, and his overwhelming success in ending counterattacks by the opposing legal team have amassed tens of millions of views on social networks.

Depp’s legions of fans have become so devoted to Miss Vasquez that they’ve created memes depicting her as Marvel’s anti-villain superhero Thor.

No wonder she’s mobbed, cheered and hugged like she’s a pop star as she walks off the court each day.

Unmoved by Heard’s tearful testimony and emotional outrage, she was ruthless in her treatment of the actress.

At one point she interrupted her by saying, “There are no questions yet, Ms. Heard”, and on another occasion she cut her off for not answering her question.

Heard, who spent much of the trial directing her moving testimony directly at the jury, appeared flustered at times as she struggled to keep up with Miss Vasquez’s barrage of questions.

Although Depp’s lead attorney – a man named Ben Chew whom he sits next to and continually consults – it was an inspired but not surprising decision to leave the delicate task of dealing with Amber Heard to lying to the young woman sitting behind them.

At 37, just a year older than Heard, Miss Vasquez didn’t hold back, continually rotating her line of questions as she looked for new ways to undermine the actress’ case.

She began her cross-examination of Heard on Monday afternoon by ostensibly asking him, “Mr. Depp is your victim, isn’t he?”
