Production on Mad Max’s fifth film, Furiosa, is well underway.

Large marquees and trailers were spotted in the Australian outback town of Broken Hill on Wednesday. New South Wales.

The biggest stars of the prequel, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworthalong with the film’s director George Miller arrived in Broken Hill last week.

Some of the modified vehicles appearing in the film were also spotted in the outback, including what appeared to be a vintage car with a roof-mounted machine gun and a tow truck with a harpoon gun attached.

Anya, 26, was spotted boarding a private jet at Sydney Airport last week for Broken Hill with the director.

The Queen’s Gambit actress is filming Furiosa with Hemsworth, Tom Burke and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, with the film slated for release in 2024.

She will star as a young Imperator Furiosa, the war captain previously played by Charlize Theron in the 2015 blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road.
