Former reality TV star Josh Duggar jailed for over 12 years for child pornography

Josh Duggar – the 34-year-old former star of reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting – was sentenced to 12½ years in prison for receiving child pornography.

Duggar, whose large family guided by conservative Christian values was at the center of TLC’s most popular reality show, was found guilty of downloading child pornography material onto his work computer.

The public downfall of the eldest Duggar child ended Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he was sentenced to 151 months in prison.

Prosecutors had asked U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks to impose the 20-year maximum sentence on Duggar, arguing in a pre-sentence filing that he had a “deep, pervasive and violent sexual interest in children”.

The former star, who is married and a mother of seven, was arrested in April 2021 after a Little Rock police detective discovered child abuse files being shared by a computer traced to her.

Investigators testified that images depicting sexual abuse of children, including toddlers, were downloaded in 2019 to a computer at a car dealership he owned.
