It’s that time of the month again. Sony is set to reveal next month’s free PlayStation Plus games later this week, so we can speculate and guess ahead of time.
June marks a big change for Sony’s subscription service. Now, instead of the basic PS Plus, you can also choose from two more expensive tiers that add a ton of games to play for free.
Depending on the level you obtain, this new catalog of games extends to all generations of PlayStation.
The “Essential” PS Plus tier is what subscribers currently have and costs $9.99/month or $24.99 for 3 months, or $59.99 for a full year.
PlayStation Plus ‘Extra’ adds a bunch of PS4 and PS5 games for $14.99/month, $39.99/3 months, or $99.99/year.
Finally, PS Plus ‘Premium’ (or ‘Deluxe’ in some regions) adds games from across the PS1/PS2/PS3 era (some downloadable and some streaming, which is PS3 games) and costs $17 $.99/month, $49.99/3 months or $119.99 per year.
Each tier includes monthly free games, which are the ones we’re here to talk about today.
PS Plus Leaks, Rumors & Predictions
As of this writing, there have been no leaks for June’s free games. Much of the leaks’ attention has been on the new offerings and game listings for the two additional tiers.
If that changes and we get a leak before Wednesday, I’ll update this post.
However, we can still make some predictions.
With a release date of June 7, it’s possible that spell strength 3 will be a PS Plus giveaway for June. That’s unlikely, however, since the game is available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store.
Other options include a Call of Duty game since modern warfare 2 is set to be revealed next month, and COD titles often come to PS Plus around a reveal.
Riders is another good guess since there is an expansion scheduled for June 28th. The world killer the expansion would be more tempting for players who got the game for free in the same month.
Other possible titles include Spiritfarer, Rust and Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, this would all make sense for June’s PS Plus lineup, as these are older titles that haven’t hit the road yet.
May 27 update:
Many PlayStation Plus subscribers have been eagerly awaiting the official June lineup reveal this week. Specifically, we were expecting to see June’s free games unveiled yesterday, Wednesday the 25th.
Even I made this mistake. Sometimes you just don’t notice how the calendar shakes. Typically, Sony reveals the following month’s game lineup on the last Wednesday of the month, but there are exceptions to this.
The rule of thumb is that Sony reveals games for the upcoming month on the Wednesday that falls before the first Tuesday of the following month.
Well, it turns out that next Tuesday is May 31, so June’s PS Plus games won’t actually release until the following Tuesday, June 7. This means that the actual reveal of next month’s games won’t take place until Wednesday, June 1, the first Wednesday of next month rather than the last Wednesday of it.
It happens, albeit rarely, once in a while and it never fails to throw me and many other PS Plus subscribers on repeat. However, this also means that you have an extra week to download May’s PS Plus games.
These are FIFA 22, Tribes of Midgard and Curse of the dead gods. I played some of the latter and it’s a little like underworld, a combat-focused rogue lite that involves fighting your way through dungeons full of enemies and traps. I really recommend it.
If any leaks or rumors arise, I will add them to this post. Other, come back to my blog next Wednesday for the June PS Plus lineup reveal.
