New Persona-Inspired JRPG Has You Fighting The Apocalypse, Holding Hands Lewdly

New Persona-inspired JRPG lets you fight the apocalypse, lewdly holding hands

The programming of the games presented during the evening of yesterday PlayStation Game Status was a clear W for gamers of all backgrounds, whether VR Vampire Mummy Lovers, roller derby fanaticsWhere fighters who finally crossed the street into the open world. However, the journey of a game joining PlayStation’s stacked slate of game announcements was as lively as its own goofy premise. This game being eternal nights.

eternal nights, developed by Studio Sai, is a hack-and-slash JRPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious infection has turned humans into rampaging monsters. As you can see in its trailer, eternal nights is packed with all the things that make an awesome JRPG: you have your cool protagonists with magic powers, dungeons riddled with traps and puzzles, and loyal party members you can hold down the R2 button to keep your hand while watching the sunset – wait (checks Steam page) Oh, eternal nights is also a dating sim. Right on.

Yes, it’s true. Love the bay of the bay. Next to eternal nights Blitzing anime-esque JRPG action, you’ll also fight for those you love in your downtime, planning dates and getting closer to the boys and girls in the apocalypse. After all, you have two hands that can apparently regrow from dismemberment; why not use them to fight for a cure for humanity while hand in hand with one of the five cute survivors in your party?

Alongside some moderately spicy visual novel artwork during romantic scenes, eternal nights also has 2D animated cutscenes that change depending on the girl or guy you are dating. But time is running out. You can use it by deepening your relationship with your companions while unlocking new skills (just like in real life), scouring the land for vital supplies, or just saying “I miss myself with that BS” and Leeroy Jenkins-ing yourself in the first dungeon you see. To each his own.

If you think a JRPG that doubles as a dating sim sounds awfully like the works of the Character series, you would be right. In fact, after playing personas 5, persona 4 goldenand Persona 3 FES, eternal nights the developer quit his job to continue making his game.

The first video the internet has ever seen of eternal nights was in a 2019 r/Unity3D subreddit post by its developer, Jae Yoo. At the time, eternal nights went under the name Project Kafka and was described as Character meets The devil can cry. Jae released the game with a calendar system, time management, and relationship-based gameplay with its RPG bits replaced with hacking and slashing.

In addition to answering questions about building 3D models and sharing inspiring videos of Character series director Katsura HashinoJae posted a series of updates on eternal nights. These updates include Character-inspired character intro trailersfirst trailer animation cels my hero academia-inspired punchand battle pictures.

Nothing is more lively than becoming your own after finding inspiration from the greats who came before you. In addition, the presentation of your first game alongside personalities such as Final Fantasy XVI and resident Evil 4 Redo is quite nutty.

“I hope you enjoyed this first look at our debut game,” Jae said in a PlayStation blog post. “As a storyteller, I’ve always wanted to mix a love story with adrenaline-charged action. I wanted players to have a strong, personal reason to push them forward in battles and to feel like they were fighting for more than just their own survival – they were fighting for the ones they love.

eternal nights is about to take up the torch Character like the game’s Prometheus who conveys the fires of combat and romantic party members with the masses. I can’t wait to hold hands and – dare I say kiss waifus and marios – oh and also save the world when eternal nights versions.

Eternal is due out in early 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
