A Disneyland employee was filmed interrupting a couple’s proposal, in what was an unforgettable moment – but for all the wrong reasons.
A theme park worker has drawn internet ire after he cut off a proposal at Disneyland Paris.
In a video shared by the couple’s best friend, a man can be seen getting down on one knee, while pulling a ring box out of his pocket. In the background is the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle from the film franchise.
However, the moment is interrupted by the Disneyland staff member who rushes into the frame and grabs the ring box from the man’s hand. He then descends the stairs and orders the couple to follow him.
As this happens, the woman can be seen clutching her hands to her mouth in shock.
The man then tries to intervene and says he had permission to propose to his partner.
“Yes, but here, it’s going to be even better,” we hear the employee say, while guiding the couple down the stairs.
In the corner of the video, another staff member can also be seen gesturing to the couple and asking them to get off.
In the comments to the Reddit post – where the video was originally shared – users lambasted the Disneyland employee for his interruption.
“He didn’t just wave him down, the employee snatched the wedding ring from his hands. That’s pretty high on my don’t touch list,” one comment read.
“Trying to figure out if the dude was happier enforcing the rules or ruining the moment. He was legitimately happier ruining the moment,” another wrote.
A third wrote: ‘Grabbing the ring was insane and on any acceptable line. My wife’s wedding ring is one of the most expensive things we own and if someone had snatched it from me when I was giving it to her for the first time, I would have gone crazy .
The theme park also apologized to the couple.
In a comment to Newsweeka Disney spokesperson said they “regret the way this was handled.”
“We apologized to the couple involved and offered to remedy the situation,” they said.
In September 2020, the proven test Disneyland Proposal was derided as “cheesy” and “unoriginal” in a viral Facebook post.
Shared on a Facebook group called That’s It I’m Proposal Shaming, it featured a photo of a Disneyland proposal, with another man also kneeling in the background.
The photo was shared with the caption: ‘When you get the top spot, the guy in the back has to propose by a bench.’
More than 2,000 people reacted to the snap, with one person saying, “If I was the guy in the back, I’d pick a different spot.
Another commented: ‘If you’re going to get engaged at Disney, at least choose a not-so-common place.’
