June is a big month for PlayStation Plus, as the large download/streaming library of other subscription services PlayStation Now folds into Plus in territories outside of Asia.
The “new” PS Plus is made up of three tiers: Essential is exactly the same as Plus is now, in addition brings the large downloadable library of PS4 games from PS Now, and throws a few PS5 games into the mix, while Prime adds Now’s selection of streaming-only PS3 games and a new batch of downloadable PS1 and PSP titles, plus the ability to stream the vast majority of the entire Plus library.
Today we’re going to focus on the free titles of the standard PS Plus subscription, because that’s what most people subscribe to and will continue to subscribe to, and unlike the higher tier games that might go and come (as subscription service content tends to do), these main Plus freebies are yours to keep for as long as you’re subscribed.

The main gift of this month is that of 2018 God of the war. A revival of the super gory mythology-themed murder-thon, this entry continues Kratos’ story but easily acts as a starting point for newcomers, as the time, setting, structure, and gameplay all have radically changed.
Our perpetually angry main protagonist is now the father of Atreus, a gentle boy who must learn to fight if he is to embark on a journey to spread the ashes of the boy’s mother, while a powerful and mysterious figure keeps popping up in their lives to cause trouble.
The game is currently on PS Now and is free for Plus subscribers who have a PS5 console, but it’s Phone a critically acclaimed game, you can see why Sony wants to make it free for all Plus subscribers (and the sequel Ragnarok is on the way, so why not let everyone know?).
then, we have Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikerpart of the incredibly popular (and long) naruto franchise that has seen the release of several solid fighting games over the years.
The draw of this entry compared to say, the ultimate ninja storm games, is that the battles are now four against four and offers content from the Boruto sequel series. If none of this makes sense to you, just know that there are anime ninjas with incredibly over the top powers and some gorgeous graphic shading.

Following the popularity of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Rehydrated Bikini Bottom as april gift (it’s always in PSN Profiles‘ Section ‘most played this week’), we have Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
This one is basically a low budget Super Smash Bros with characters from Nick’s properties like Spongebob, Danny Phantom, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more. Reviews are mixed, but there’s plenty of nostalgia for the grand prize of free. You also get separate PS4 and PS5 versions, so there are two Platinum trophies up for grabs if you like that.
These three games can be claimed for free starting June 7. The revamped PS Plus services will launch on June 22 in the UK, and current Plus/Now subscribers won’t be able to extend their subscription until then.
