“The best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun,” he said at the time.
Depp’s Hollywood career had been left in tatters following Heard’s claims that she had been abused during the couple’s marriage.
Last month, Pirates of the Caribbean Producer Jerry Bruckheimer said it was “unlikely” Depp would ever return to his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a potential sixth film in the franchise.
“Not at this stage,” he said when asked about Depp. “The future is not decided yet.”
However, this week a former Disney executive said he thinks Depp could make a comeback.
“I absolutely believe after the verdict that pirate is ready to restart with Johnny as Capt Jack back on board,” they said People magazine.
“There are simply too many potential box office treasures for a beloved character deeply embedded in Disney culture.”
Depp hasn’t played swashbuckler Sparrow since 2017, when he starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The five films of pirate The Depp-starring franchise has grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide.
