Depp sued Heard for defamation after writing an article for the Washington Post in 2018, describing himself as a “public figure representing domestic violence”.

Jury found Heard defamed Depp and ordered her to pay him $10 million in damages.

But Heard filed a countersuit after one of Depp’s lawyers gave a pretrial interview in which he described his abuse allegations as a “hoax”.

The jury found that Heard had been defamed by the comments and also awarded her $2 million in damages.

During the trial, Heard said Depp was verbally and physically abusive towards her on numerous occasions.

But the juror said she didn’t seem natural or believable on the stand.

“It seemed like she was able to flip the switch on her emotions,” the juror said.

“She was answering a question and she was crying and two seconds later she was freezing.

“It didn’t seem natural.”

The juror added that Johnny Depp “seemed a little more real in terms of answering questions.”

The juror was one of five men and two women tasked with deciding the outcome of the trial.

He said the jury found ‘they were both violent towards each other’ but Heard’s legal team failed to prove Depp committed the acts of physical violence which she had claimed.

“They had their husband-wife fights,” he said.

“They were both yelling at each other.

“I don’t think that makes them right or wrong.

“That’s what you do when you argue, I guess.

“But to rise to the level of what she was claiming, there was not enough or any evidence that really supported what she was saying.”

The juror also asked how determined Heard was to help Depp get off the drugs, when she admitted to taking them herself.

“If you really wanted to help Johnny Depp get off drugs, why are you taking drugs around him?” he said.

They also discussed the types of drugs Depp primarily took – alcohol and marijuana.

“If you mix alcohol and marijuana, that’s where you usually end up – passed out,” he said, referring to a photo Heard took of Depp passing out after a excessive drug use, with ice cream melting in his lap.

“We discussed at length that a lot of the drugs she said he used, most of them were painkillers.

“And you’re generally not violent towards depressants.

“You become a zombie, as these images show.”

Other issues with Heard’s testimony, according to the juror, included “before and after” photos tendered into evidence that purported to show the result of one of Depp’s physical assaults.

The juror said he believed the argument that an image had been digitally manipulated to “blush” Heard’s face so he looked bruised.

Heard’s credibility was also shaken by the revelation that she had not donated $7 million of her divorce settlement to charity, as she previously claimed.

“The thing is, she didn’t give much of it,” the juror said.

“It was dishonest.”

Finally, the juror denied claims that the jury was “bribed”, punched by Depp or unduly influenced by social media.

He said he and at least three other jurors did not have Twitter accounts.

“Social media has not impacted us. We followed the evidence,” he said.

“None of us were big fans of either one.

“We didn’t take anything outside into account. [the courtroom].

“We only looked at the evidence.

“These were very serious charges and a lot of money at stake.

“So we weren’t taking it lightly.”
