Elon Musk’s daughter doesn’t want to be tied to him anymore

Mr Musk’s transgender daughter, who was named Xavier Alexander Musk at birth, turned 18 in April and wants to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, TMZ reports.

Wilson is the surname of Vivian’s mother and Mr Musk’s ex-wife, Justine, who was married to him from 2000 to 2008.

The change is partly, but not entirely, to conform to her gender identity. The legal documents, filed in California Superior Court in Los Angeles County, include a section requiring him to give a “reason for the name change.”

“Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live or wish to be linked to my biological father in any way,” she explains.

A hearing on Vivian’s claim is scheduled for Friday.

Neither Vivian nor her father have spoken publicly about their relationship. Mr Musk has already said that he “absolutely” supports trans people “but all those pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare.”

This statement came after he shared a meme making fun of people for putting their pronouns in their social media profiles, prompting accusations of transphobia.

Mr Musk married Vivian’s mother, a Canadian author, in January 2000. They had a son, Nevada, in 2002, who tragically died at the age of ten weeks from sudden infant death syndrome. The couple went on to have twins – Vivian and her brother Griffin – and triplets named Kai, Saxon and Damian, who are now 16.

Mr. Musk and Ms. Wilson share custody of the five children. He also has two children with singer Grimes, who he dated from 2018 until recently.

The Tesla and SpaceX boss has yet to comment on his daughter’s case. As US media reported today, he was mulling cheese on Twitter.

Since the end of his relationship with Mr Musk, Grimes has been romantically linked to activist Chelsea Manning, the former US military analyst who spent years in prison after leaking sensitive military documents to WikiLeaks.

Earlier this month, Ms Manning, whose birth name was Bradley, accused Mr Musk of posting a tweet that “seemed transphobic”.

It came during an extensive interview with The Daily Beastin which she refused to confirm or deny that she was dating Grimes.

The interviewer touched on some of Mr. Musk’s social media activities, noting that he “started tweeting more memes attacking pronoun use, the transgender community, and liberal attitudes toward gender” at the back when rumors that Grimes and Ms. Manning were dating surfaced.

“These looked like sub-tweets about you, and that felt pretty weird to me,” the Daily Beast interviewer said.

“Yes, of course,” Ms. Manning said.

“The only thing I will say is that at that time he definitely seemed transphobic, and rumors and speculation aside, it’s off limits.

“I will answer it. Any transphobia in a transphobic environment is not acceptable.

She noted that she responded to Mr Musk’s tweets with a meme of her own.

Mr. Musk is, of course, often in the news. More recently, it was revealed that SpaceX had laid off “a number of employees” behind an open letter criticizing his behavior.

The open letter said Mr. Musk’s social media activity was “a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment” for his employees.

Justifying the layoffs in an internal memo, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell said the open letter left other employees “uncomfortable, intimidated and intimidated” because they felt compelled to sign it even though it did not “reflect their point of view”.

“We have too much critical work to do and we don’t need this kind of excessive activism,” Ms Shotwell wrote.

Meanwhile, Mr. Musk, SpaceX and Tesla are facing a $370 billion class action lawsuit over their support of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, which has lost more than 90% of its value in the past 13 months.

The litigant, Keith Johnson, alleges that he and others were “cheated out of money” by a “dogecoin crypto pyramid scheme”.

“Dogecoin is not a currency, stock or security. It is not backed by gold, any other precious metal or anything. You cannot eat it, farm it or wear it. Dogecoin does not generate cash flow. It does not pay interest or dividends. It has no unique utility compared to other cryptocurrencies,” Johnson wrote in his court filing.

“It’s not based on anything of value. It is not secured by any government or private entity. The number of coins is unlimited. This is simply a scam whereby the “big fools” are tricked into buying the coin at a higher price.

“Since Mr. Musk and his companies began buying, developing, promoting, supporting and operating Dogecoin in 2019, Plaintiff and the class have lost approximately $86 billion ($124 billion) in this crypto pyramid scheme. “

The lawsuit did not dampen Mr. Musk’s enthusiasm for cryptocurrency, however.

“I will continue to support Dogecoin,” he said, urging his followers to “keep buying it.”
