Julie Goodwin has revealed she consulted her psychologist before agreeing to join MasterChef Australia: Fans V Favorites this year.
The celebrity chef, 51, who won the first season of MasterChef in 2009, has opened up about her battle with anxiety and the Depression after his arrest for drunk driving four years ago.

‘[My mental health] was a massive discussion when I was asked to do [MasterChef]’, explained the author of the cookbook.
“I didn’t just say yes. I talked to my family, I talked to my psychologist, and it was a very thoughtful decision that was made because at the end of the day, I didn’t want to be back at the bottom of a dark place,” she continued.
The mother-of-three, who spent five weeks in a mental health facility in 2020, has devised a coping strategy in case things get too mentally taxing.

Speaking to Women’s Day on Monday, the inaugural MasterChef winner admitted she fears returning to the cooking competition could damage her mental health.
“They worked around the shooting schedule to allow me to still have my psychology appointments and go out early in the morning to do my exercise. They constantly contact me to make sure I’m okay,” she said.
Julie sent shockwaves through the culinary world four years ago when she was charged with drunk driving twice over the legal limit.

She said she found solace in her granddaughter, Delilah.
“In the midst of this really awful time, I had decided I was done with it,” Julie said.
“I had nothing more to do, my work here was finished. This is where I found myself. It got me to the hospital a bunch of times.

‘So I’m trying to figure out if my life here isn’t over, then what is this? Delilah is obviously an important part of that. She’s a tiny little human that I want to be there for.
Julie, who is known for her hearty homemade recipes, beat famed runner-up Poh Ling Yeow in MasterChef Australia’s first season in 2009.
