In the living and dining room, a large fireplace is decorated with ornate green tiles and the Haddon coat of arms as well as exposed beam ceilings which add to the warmth and comfort of the space.
Max and Sophie Allen told Domain they bought the house, designed by famed architect Robert J. Haddon, in 1998 and were invited to afternoon tea with all of its former residents.
“After buying Anselm, but before moving in, the previous owners hosted an afternoon tea and invited everyone who had lived in the house to come and tell us about what it was like when they lived here” , Ms. Allen said.
“We are only the fourth owners since the house was built in 1906 and we felt so wonderfully welcomed and connected to the house and its history.”
Next to the living room there is a sophisticated home office with an ornate fireplace, curved floor-to-ceiling windows and a series of original oil paintings of the US Fleet at Port Phillip Bay

It’s such a romantic old house. It still seems like a magical place to me from the stories I read to the children,’ said Ms Allen who moved into the house when her eldest was just three.
“It was wonderful for the children to grow up here. Creativity and imagination is a gift that comes with home, I think.
