A Photoshop error capped a big week for Lisa Wilkinson’s family after her daughter’s news platform confused the German and Aboriginal flags.
Billi FitzSimons, the daughter of Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons, has been editor of The Daily Aus newspaper since March.
And the 24-year-old faced her first big hurdle in the top job this week when the website changed the German flag atop the sydney Harbor Bridge, rather than the Aboriginal flag.
Meanwhile – in what could only be described as suspicious timing – just a day later, Ms FitzSimons posted a job advertisement looking for a fact-checker who has “meticulous attention to detail”.

The message concerned the government’s decision to pay $25million to install the Aboriginal flag atop the Sydney monument.
In a statement, co-founder Sam Koslowski told Daily Mail Australia: “It was a simple mistake.
“One of our web designers was mocking up new designs and inadvertently uploaded a dummy design.
“This was a design testing error and had nothing to do with our editorial team. It was intended for internal design review only and was published in error.
“We have reviewed our internal design and testing processes so that this does not happen again.”
Following the error, Ms FitzSimons took to Twitter and LinkedIn on Thursday to post the job listing.
He was looking for a detail-oriented person who could “critically review sources.”
The Daily Aus describes itself as a site “providing young Australians with an digestible and engaging way to access the news”.
“Our goal is to provide context for news that is making the rounds,” the site explains.

A mistake made by Ms FitzSimon’s mother Lisa was at the center of national debate this week after Logies’ winning speech from the project host delayed the trial of accused rapist Brittany Higgins. Mr. Lehrmann has denied any wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty.
There have been calls for Wilkinson to be held in contempt of court after mentioning alleged rape victim Higgins in her speech for winning the Outstanding News Coverage Logie award for her one-on-one interview with the former ministerial staffer in 2021.
The trial of defendant Bruce Lehrmann has been pushed back until October after ACT Chief Justice Lucy McCallum expressed concern that Wilkinson’s comments could prejudice jurors.
The lawsuit concerns an alleged rape which Ms Higgins says happened in Parliament in 2019, which is denied by Lehrmann.
Judge McCallum decided to delay the trial “reluctantly and with gritted teeth” because “somewhere in this debate the distinction between an untested allegation and the fact of guilt has been lost.”
She noted that public interest in the case had to die out before Lehrmann had access to a fair jury.

It’s been a tough week for The Project star’s family after Lisa found herself in legal trouble after her Logies acceptance speech
Network 10 has announced that it has hired top lawyer Matthew Collins on behalf of the network and Wilkinson just hours after Dr Collins criticized Wilkinson’s speech on rival Chanel Seven’s Sunrise morning show. .
“It is certainly possible that the authorities will examine the speech she gave before the Logies and assess (whether) this speech went against the standard that applies in this branch of law,” said Dr. Collins.
“That standard is, did anything she did tend to interfere with the administration of justice?”
Network Ten said it “fully supports Lisa Wilkinson” and confirmed that Dr Collins has been hired to represent him and Wilkinson.
“Network 10 and Lisa Wilkinson take their legal obligations very seriously, including in the preparation and presentation of her speech at the Logies event.”
“In light of the ongoing proceedings, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
Ten also fired a warning shot at news outlets reporting on the legal drama. “This reporting is now causing significant harm and we are calling on these organizations to stop this harassment in order to give Lisa the best opportunity to testify in court and allow the trial to proceed in a fair and expeditious manner,” a doorman said. -word of the network. said.
“We are closely monitoring all coverage of this issue and Lisa and Network 10 reserve their rights with respect to any future defamation claims.”
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Ms FitzSimons for comment.
