There’s a new king of Australian roads, and he’s coming with a ghost badge on his engine. That’s right, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has arrived in Australia for the first time, representing one of the most advanced hypercars to ever land on Australian shores, setting a new benchmark as the most expensive new car in the world. market.
Now, if you’ve never heard of Koenigsegg before, you’re not alone. The modestly-sized high-performance carmaker was founded in Angelholm, Sweden in 1994 and has been manufacturing some of the fastest and most powerful vehicles in the world ever since. This year, Koenigsegg will enter the Australian market for the first time through a partnership with Melbourne-based exotic car dealer Sullivan Kerr.
Koenigsegg’s latest attempt is the jesko, of which there are two versions in the Attack and the Absolut, the Attack being built for more track-focused performance (with a massive wing), while the Absolut is built for straight-line speed (without wing). Only 125 copies of the Jesko will be made, including the Attack and Absolut variants, with a total of three cars allocated to Australia.

We recently had the chance to see the new Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut at the Sullivan Kerr showrooms in Sandringham, and it’s safe enough to say we were blown away by it. The immediate impression it gives is one of uncompromising power and aerodynamic refinement, with a carbon front lip you could eat your dinner on and a pair of fins on the engine that remind you of a fish. aggressive tropical.
Simply put, it just seems quick. From the huge front and side air vents to the super light carbon fiber wheels, everything has been thought out and engineered for maximum glide through the air. And that’s all before we look at what Koenigsegg has dreamed up under the hood.
The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that produces 955kW/1500Nm if you fill it up with E85, although it also has a flex-fuel option. All that power is then channeled to the 21-inch rear wheels via the Koenigsegg 9-speed Light Speed transmission and limited-slip differential, resulting in fearsome power.
Featuring a double-wishbone suspension setup for a smooth ride, the Absolut weighs less than 1400kg, thanks in part to the aforementioned engine which was designed to tip the scales at just 189kg. This weight is also possible thanks to the body of the car built in carbon fiber monocoque and aluminum honeycomb, as well as the integrated fuel tanks.

As you’d expect, the car’s interior has received the same level of attention, with a custom leather or Alcantara interior, complete with an infotainment system that offers everything you could possibly need and more. This includes Apple CarPlay, a proximity protection system so you don’t open your door in the wall, a “bird’s eye” parking assistance system and air conditioning.
Now we’ve mentioned that the Jesko Absolut is fast, but exactly how fast will it go? Now, the car has yet to be officially tested or certified for its top speed, however, it is understood that it will be able to reach speeds of 531 km/h (330 mph) under the right conditions. This makes it the fastest car ever built, which is a hugely impressive feat for Koenigsegg.

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is currently available for €3.1 million (A$4.62 million) excluding taxes, which includes luxury car tax, GST, import tax and duty. stamp. However, depending on the specs and options you’re looking for (a fully exposed carbon fiber exterior costs an additional AU$1.1 million), the Absolut can cost upwards of AU$12 million.
There have been three examples of Koenigsegg Jesko allocated to Australia, all of which are currently reserved. However, the good folks at Sullivan Kerr know how to move mountains when they need to, so if you’re seriously interested, get in touch with them ASAP.
